As of 2008-02-02 Berlin has a new great attraction: ON ICE BERLIN. 50 international artists have created over 30 ice sculptures. They have worked on them for 2 weeks and used over 500 tons of ice and snow. As a result these artists have build up their own fascinating icy world with historical sculptures from all over the world. The exposition is located in a special thermo hall beside the place Alexanderplatz with an surface area of 1.000 sqm. To save the sculptures the inside of the hall is permanently cooled down to 8 degrees below zero. It is really impressive and will be worthwhile to visit. Because of the cold temperatures you should not forget to wear warm clothes.
During the impressive tour across the sparkling world you can see e.g. the Great Wall of China, Terracotta Soldiers, Taj Mahal, Petra (archaeological site), Christ de Redeemer from Rio de Janeiro, pyramids of Gizeh, the Coloseum, Brandenburg Gate and many more…
You can visit ON ICE BERLIN from 2008-02-02 until 2008-04-06. The exposition has opened its doors between 10 am and 10 pm daily. The entrance is directly beside the main entry of ALEXA at street Grunerstrasse.
