A new glacial period has arrived to Berlin. For 2 months Germanys capital had a new great attraction: ON ICE BERLIN. 50 international artists have created over 30 fleeting ice sculptures. They have worked on them for 2 weeks and used over 500 tons of ice and snow. Finally there was built up an wonderful icy world with historical sculptures from all over the world. The exposition was located in a special thermo hall near place Alexanderplatz with an surface area of 1.000 sqm. To save the sculptures the inside of the hall was permanently cooled down to 8 degrees below zero.
In this sparkling world you could see e.g. the Great Wall of China, Terracotta Army, Taj Mahal, Petra (archaeological site), Christ de Redeemer from Rio de Janeiro, pyramids of Gizeh, the Coloseum, Brandenburg Gate
